19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's maiden trophy following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had led observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, backed up by an better serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
